icWord™ installation notes for users trying the icWord 3.0 30 days demo.
A. The installation process
The document that you are reading is located in a folder called "icWord Installer folder". In the same folder you should have a single application file called "icWord 3.0 Demo Installer"
1. Double-click the installer file "icWord 3.0 Demo Installer" to install icWord on your hard drive.
The icWord splash screen appears, displaying the icWord logo.
2. Click the Continue button on the icWord splash screen.
The Welcome screen appears.
3. Click OK on the Welcome screen.
The Licensing Agreement screen appears.
4. Read the agreement carefully, and click the "Agree" button to continue.
The install screen appears.
5. Click on the "Install" button to install the program.
A screen called "Install software into folder" with four buttons "New", "Open", "Cancel" and "Choose" is displayed.
6. Highlight an item on the list (by single clicking on it) and click on the "Choose" button. icWord 3.0 will be installed in the selected item.
For example if you have a hard disk called "HD" and you select it and then click on the "Choose" button the installer will create a folder called "icWord 3.0" on your "HD" hard disk.
At this stage your installation is complete and you should have a folder called "icWord 3.0" located where you have decided to install it.
B. Whats get installed
The "icWord 3.0 Demo Installer" creates a folder named "icWord 3.0" (This is the default name).
In this folder you should have:
1- The application called "icWord 3.0"
2- A folder called "(Documentation)"
3- A folder called "(Import)"
4- A folder called "(Export)"
5- A folder called "(Xtra Files)"
Important: Please keep these five items in their original folder. If you want to use icWord 3.0 from another place, please make an alias of the application. The "icWord 3.0 Demo Installer" creates automatically an alias of icWord 3.0 on your desktop.
The "icWord 3.0 Demo Installer" also installs:
In Mac OS 8.6 or 9.x
- a folder named "icWord 3" in the "Preferences" folder located in the system folder.
- a contextual menu plug-in named "icWord CM" in the "Contextual Menu Items" folder located in the system folder.
- a library called "eSellerateEngine (Carbon)" in the folder "Mindvision" located in folder "Application Support" located in the system folder.
In Mac OS X
- a folder named "icWord 3" in the Users/Username/Library/Preferences folder
- a contextual menu plug-in named "icWord CM" in the Users/Username/Library/Contextual Menu Items folder.
- a library called "eSellerateEngine (Carbon)" in the Library/Application Support/Mindvision folder.
C. Registration and first run
1. Double-click on the icWord 3.0 icon to start the application.
2. To register the program click on the "Register" button. This will connect you to the esellerate secure server, where you perform the purchase and receive a registration code.
3. If you want to use the fully functional demo of the program, wait until the 15 seconds timer has completed its countdown and then click on the "Use As Demo" button.
icWord 3.0 will ask you if it should be used as the default application for opening Word and PowerPoint documents received on the Internet (most likely this is what you want so you may want to click OK)
icWord 3.0 should do its "First Run" successfully.
If the "First Run" has been successful, you may want read the documentation under the Help menu.
D. Working with icWord
1. To view the contents of a Word, AppleWorks, PowerPoint or NisusWriter file drag it onto icWord 3.0 alias. That's all there is to it.
E. Need CarbonLib 1.5
In order to run, icWord 3.0 requires the presence of CarbonLib 1.5 or better in your system. CarbonLib is an Apple library used to provide Mac OS X compatibility.
If CarbonLib 1.5 is not present in your system icWord 3.0 will gives an alert requesting it. You may download the latest version of CarbonLib (currently version 1.6) from the Apple web site (www.apple.com) at:
